What started as a local marina and boat charter business in 1947 has grown into one of Europe's leading yacht brokerage companies. The real transformation began in 1968, when Willem van Baalen took over the company. His vision and dedication laid the foundation for what De Valk is today. Since 2004, his son Mattijs van Baalen has led the company, ensuring that trust, expertise, and personal service remain at the heart of everything we do.
Over the decades, De Valk has grown far beyond its original harbour. We now have offices in top yachting destinations across Europe - from Amsterdam and Hindeloopen to Cannes, Croatia and Palma. Over the years, we introduced innovative services such as our own yacht magazine and launched one of the first digital platforms for yacht listing - long before online became the standard.
At De Valk, we have always been ahead of the curve. In the 1980s, we connected our offices through a centralised computer system, making yacht transactions more efficient. By 1996, we launched a global online yacht database, ensuring our clients could browse and buy yachts anytime, anywhere.
Today, De Valk operates from offices across Europe and Asia. We specialise in yachts from 10 to 40 metres and close around 500 transactions each year. With over 800 yachts in our portfolio and a network of more than 70,000 buyers and sellers, we connect people with the right yacht faster than ever.
