"Paradox" has an excellent interior layout, ample headroom and stowagespace and is in comparison to most Koopmans yachts very light and inviting inside through the use of teak wooden finishing as well as the use of light panelling. This makes her ideal for long and safe passage making. Also her rig (taller than standard) and ample fuel and water supplies, large deep cockpit and sturdy steel construction were set up to be used for just that purpose. One of the few three cabin Koopmans designs in this range on the market.

Steel sailingyacht Koopmans 40 "Paradox", built in 1995/96, commissioned in 1997 by Jachtwerf Delta / Van de Torre, The Netherlands, dim.: 12.05 (lwl 9.50) x 3.95 x 1.65 mtr, design by Dick Koopmans Sr., steel hull, stell decks, stainless steel superstructure and cockpit, hardened glass windows in aluminium framing, full bilged hull, full bilged keel, skeg hung rudder, displacement approx. 16 tonnes (fully loaded), ballast: 5.5 tonnes (lead, 40% ballastratio), fueltank: 580 ltrs (steel), freshwatertank: 500 ltrs (s.s.), sumptank: 100 ltrs (s.s.), Solimar Orca mechanical wheelsteering.

Classic teak interior, 3 cabins and large saloon, double cabin forward and aft, single berth cabin aft, 5 (+1) berths, dinette with opposite two chairs, ample headroom 1.95 mtr, Trumatic gas ducted air heating, galley; electric waterpressure system, footpump, boyler hot watersystem on engine/220v, Hillerange three burner gasstove and oven with Trumatic gas solenoid emergency shut-off valve, Engel 12v fridge. Her interior appears to have much more space because of her beamy hull and good use of light colours. Furthermore the hull is beamy, leaving ample space inside.

Perkins M50 50 hp (36kW) diesel, installed in 1997, approx. 700 runninghours, indirect coolingsystem, Hurth mechanical gearbox, s.s. propellershaft, three bladed fixed propeller, cruisingspeed approx. 7 kn, consumption approx. 4 ltr/hr, 1 x manual / 1 x electric bilgepumps, 12/220v electrical system, 2 x 240amp / 1 x 60amp batteries, shorepower, Vetus 25 amp batterycharger combined 800 watt invertor, Bat-watch system for optimum charge indication, windgenerator.

Ritchie pedestal compass, Autohelm Tridata ST50 log/echosounder, Autohelm ST50 windset, Shipmate RS8300 VHF (with Atis), Autohelm radar, Autohelm 7000 autopilot (hydraulic drive), Autohelm ST50 GPS with extra cockpit display and Autohelm chartplotter (and electronic charts), radio/cd player with cockpit speakers, active TV/radio antenna, PC interface for navigation. Both plotter and radar displays are mounted in the cockpit for best use.

Fixed windscreen with sprayhood, cockpitcover, davit, lifejackets, 2 x lifebuoy and Danbuoy, safetylines on deck, Lofrans Tigress electric windlass, CQR anchor with 40 mtr chain, windvane self-steering installation, boardingladder, fenders, warps, spare parts, clock, barometer, radar reflector, cockpit cushions, cockpit table, 3 x fire extinguishers, etc. Hull and deck painted in 2001, hull covered in heavy duty epoxy coating.

Sloop-cutter-rigged, Selden double spreader aluminium mast with diamond spreader, s.s. standing rigging, Furlex headsail furler, 4 sails (1997); full batten main / furling genoa / cutter staysail / stormjib / MPS spi with squeezer, covers for main and genoa, slabreefing for main, mechanical boomvang and backstayadjuster, 2 x 46CST sheetwinches, 2 x 40CST spi-sheet winches, 3 x 30AST halyard winches, 1 x 30C reef winch, all by Lewmar, spi-pole stowed at mast. Her rig is about 1.50 mtr taller than standard. Improving her light wind sailing performance overall. This has been done in conjuction with her designer.
